Performance: Ancestral Grammar

Ancestral Grammar

Ancestral grammar is a research-based experimental performance with material textile installations centering on enslaved legacies and cosmologies within Sonoran Southwest Latinx Communities. A collaboration between artist Amber Doe and founder and lead choreographer of Ballet Folklorico Los Mextucaz, Angelica Lopez,  Ancestral Grammar is an installation and movement journey from the shores of West Africa to the coast of modern-day Mexico. This project is centered in historical research, folkloric dance research, and experimental textile and performance digital media.
